Action Alert: For The People Act (HR1/S1)
We are very lucky to live in Colorado where our right to vote is well protected. People are automatically registered to vote when they get a driver's license. We receive our ballots in the mail. Our county clerks ensure our elections are very secure because there is a paper trail. Thanks to the passage of Amendments Y and Z to the Colorado State Constitution in 2018 (advocated for by the LWVCO) we have independent redistricting committees currently working on delineating US Congressional and State Legislative districts, effectively eliminating partisan gerrymandering (for more information checkout Redistricting in Colorado see LWVCO Website).

Additional resources to support you in your work (for members):
Call your representative and senators and tell them how important this package of reforms is to the future of our democracy. Urge them to hold a Senate hearing on the For the People Act. Ask our elected officials to show their support for the freedom to vote and to vote for this legislation. Urge your friends and family to do the same, especially those who do not have the benefit of living in Colorado.
